MAY!

So many things have happened in the last month. I've been meaning to write them down but I'm just the worst. Anyway, here's a few pictures and even more words :)

-Spring semester is over! I ended up with a stupid 3.9 and I don't really wanna talk about it. A couple of my classes were pretty hard and I was grateful to see them go. Also, Scott and I evaluated our lives and decided to go to summer school. He'll have his associates in August and I'll have my bachelors in May 2016. I could not be happier.

-We went on a quick trip to St. George to see one of our good friends from high school get married! That morning at 8 Scott's cousin got married in the Salt Lake temple so after the sealing we drove home, changed, bought some more snacks, and picked up our two friends. We made it to Provo before we needed a lunch break. Upon eating Lorna realized she didn't pack a shirt, tie, or belt for Braden so we headed to Ross and shopped with 800,000 other people.

After a million hours of driving we made it to St. George and had about an hour to get ready. I wasted a bunch of time trying to put my hair in a bun and gave up 20 minutes before we had to leave. I jumped in the shower (washed my hair!) and got completely ready in time. It was the most amazing thing I've ever done.

After days and days of searching my closet for the perfect outfit for the wedding Scott let me get a new dress.

He even took me to 5 different stores to look.

He's the real MVP.

Geremy's wedding was at the most beautiful place. It was so good to see him and he was really happy! We chatted, ate, and danced and enjoyed the night. After we got back to our hotel we really wanted to go to the hot tub but it was closed. The nice lady at the front desk told us if we were quiet we could go. We were so pumped only to find out that it was more of a luke-warm tub than a hot tub. Basically it was too cold outside to deal so we just went to bed. Everything else about our hotel was fab though!

The next day we drove around town and went to see the temple. I was super bummed we hadn't planned to actually go in the temple because when we got there that's all I wanted to do. But, we enjoyed the visitors center and walking through the grounds. It was a beautiful day and we had lunch at the most delicious Pizza Factory. We wanted to go to Dixie Rock but it was closed off due to the Iron Man race going on... so we settled for the museum featuring 150 years of wedding dresses. It was actually really cool! After that we decided it was time to head home. We hadn't been on the road very long when Scott got pulled over for speeding. Thankfully they let him off with a warning. I was grateful we didn't get a ticket but having to drive the speed limit the rest of the way made for a VERY long trip. Don't speed, kids.

-On May 5th we had updated pictures of us done by Ashley Ziegler Photography! That deserves a whole post all on it's own but I just had to mention it real quick. I had such a good time and I absolutely love our pictures! Ashley gets 10 high fives from me!

-The next day on May 6th Scott had sinus surgery. Oh, how fun that was. I was a nervous wreck but everything turned out fine. He recovered very well and hasn't had any problems so far. After surgery we went and stayed at his grandparents house because it was empty and quiet (they were out of town) and it was so nice to just chill (read: watch 100 episodes of Catfish because CABLE!) and play with the cats for a couple days! His post-op is tomorrow so hopefully they find that everything is healing normal. I am so glad he's feeling better :)

I took 2 hours for them to finally take him back into surgery so we watched Cutthroat Kitchen and discussed finances. Very fun.

-On May 11th we bought our very first car! It was a crazy stressful day but we ended up pretty happy with what we got. It's a 2012 Honda Accord and it's sooo nice. We've been working and saving for a long time and it feels good to own something so pretty. It was good practice for next time... cause yeah we have to buy another car in few months. Pray for us.

-On May 14th Elder Simpson came home from serving two years in Ohio! Scott hadn't seen his brother in FOUR years and it was a sweet reunion. It has been fun having my friend home again!

-May 19th Scott and I both started our summer classes. It has been so crappy. I hate never seeing Scott and when I do see him we both have homework to do. It's so sad and I can't wait for this to be over. ONE MORE YEAR.

-Memorial weekend we went with my parents and sister to decorate graves. We do it every year and Scott had never been before. He had a good time learning a little about our family history and seeing where my parents grew up. That night we got both of our families together and had a fire. S'mores are #1. 

Phew. I think that's most of what happened the last month. It's been crazy busy but very fun! I have a happy life and I'm thankful for all the great people in it.

MY BEST FRIEND, LIKE ACTUAL BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD, IS COMING HOME IN 12 DAYS. TWELVE DAYS. GUYS.

Weekend Getaway!

Earlier this year Scott and I started to talk about what we were going to do for Valentine's Day and our anniversary. We discussed St. George and then decided it would be too hard for me to get four days in a row off of work so we sort of dropped the idea of going anywhere. Well, the semester began and I got super depressed so we decided we would go stay at the Little America and relax for a few days- basically exactly what we did for our honeymoon last year. I was stoked! I've been looking forward to our trip for several weeks!

Friday night we had planned to do laundry and pack so we met up at home after work. Scott surprised me with red roses and chocolate :)

Saturday morning was Valentine's day and we woke up pretty early and gave each other our presents. I got him a Utes shirt and a Nike hoodie and a card. I also wrote him 14 letters (one for each day from the 1st to the 14th) of reasons why I love him and he read the last one. He wrote me the cutest poem and gave me a little stuffed dog. He also surprised me with a ring! We had gone shopping about a week before because I wanted to pick out a few for him to choose from so that I could still be surprised but also get what I want... cause, ya know... Anyway when I opened the box I was so happy and said "YOU GOT ME THE ONE I WANTED!" and he was like "I know." I loved all three rings I picked out, but I secretly hoped I would get the ruby. Scott is such a little gem ;)

 

I absolutely love it!

We got ready and headed to Chick Fizzle for some breakfast on our way to the zoo! Neither of us had been there in forever and it was super fun! We got there a little before 10 (an hour after open) and we got a chance to see almost all of the animals active before it got too warm and crowded. I loved the lions! And teaching Scott about what makes a grizzly bear a grizzly bear. My dad would have been so proud ;)

They had written Valentiney things in honey on the glass so that the bears would come over to see the people! This one was licking so much! It was adorable.

We paid (WAY TOO MUCH) to ride the train (SERIOUSLY IT'S SO LAME IT SHOULD BE FREE) and then went to the gift shop to sit down for a while. We walked around the whole zoo one more time and by 2 there were just way too many (very sweet and adorable) children to really enjoy anything. Also everything was asleep. We went to Jimmy John's for lunch and then Target for new swimming suits. We checked in to the hotel and immediately went swimming!

They were doing tricks with the baby elephant and it was so cute! Watching them eat and drink is really neat!

We had a nice dinner at the Coffee Shop downstairs and enjoyed a bottle of sparkling cider. They were pretty busy and it was getting late, so our waitress forgot about us for like 45 minutes. We just chatted and she finally came back with the check. She was a sweet old lady :) We watched the NBA All Star Saturday events and really enjoyed the slam dunk contest. I'm happy we were able to have actual TV to watch it because otherwise we wouldn't have!

Sunday was our (FIRST!) anniversary and we slept in a little bit and Scott surprised me with more jewelry. He's such a little punk. He got me a necklace and earrings to go with my ring so that I would have a whole matching set :) I gave him a watch and then later we bought him some new shoes. I wish I would have known he was going to spoil me so much! I would have tried to stop him given him more stuff. Oh whale, he's still sweet :)

We had breakfast at Village Inn and went swimming some more. We napped and watched a couple movies and lots of episodes of Friends. It was a pretty low key day and I loved it. We watched our wedding video that was made by Scott's grandma and uncle. It's definitely not fancy but it's such a sweet keepsake. I had no idea anything would ever come of all the video grandma shot of our wedding day but I'm so glad it did! It's so fun to see everyone and remember the perfect day :) Maybe one day we'll watch the uncut version (it's like 3 hours long!) but for now the edited version makes me so happy.

I decided that I wanted to take Scott to Cheesecake Factory for our anniversary dinner so we headed off to City Creek. Since it was Sunday we didn't see much of it but we did have a short wait time and that's more important than anything. I wanted to get cheesecake SO BAD but we were just too full. :( We're definitely going back soon!

So,quick story... Scott loves to give money to sign-holders. It drives me nuts because I'm a terrible person I feel like they are just lying, so going downtown with him is not my favorite. Anyway, we had some leftover bread (cause their bread is BOMB) in a takeout box and we were sitting on the train riding back to Courthouse. A guy came up to us and started telling us his story and asking for money or food, but I knew Scott didn't have any cash so it would be up to me if we helped him or not. I was thinking, "hey, I'm never ever going to eat this bread so I might as well give it to someone who might" and I handed him the bag. I told him it was just bread but he still looked really happy. He ran away and ate it and Scott was very proud of me. It was so not a big deal but it did make me feel better than just giving random strangers $5 bills. So yay for our waiter for giving us way too much bread :)

Monday we had to check out and I was so bummed. I always hate leaving! But at least this time coming home wasn't so bad because we were already moved in to our apartment, unlike last year. We drove up by the U and ate lunch at The Pie. It was so heavenly! Then we headed for home and dropped off our stuff and went to the dollar theater by our house to see Big Hero 6. It was SUCH a cute movie! We went home and then watched more movies/TV and played some card games for the rest of the night. It was such a perfect weekend and I loved celebrating our first year of marriage. I sure am thankful for my sweet Scotty :)

Date Week

Because Jamba was moving all last week, I worked 8-5 and had every night off. For the first time ever. For a whole week. It was a rare occasion and Scott and I wanted to make the most of it!

Monday we just stayed home and enjoyed a delicious meal of stuffed peppers and watched way too many episodes of Secret Life. This is when we decided we weren't going to spend the rest of the week sitting on the couch.

Tuesday we went to dinner at Zupas and I got Scott to give pesto a second chance. (He loved it) Then we drove down Redwood until we stumbled upon Nicklecade. I had never been before and it was super fun! Then we got sundaes at Arctic Circle.

Wednesday we went "ballroom dancing". Scott is a Young Men's leader and attends mutual every Wednesday night. They were having a combined activity with a man from BYU's BDC and Scott invited me to come. The guy taught us a few different dances and I did pretty okay. I'm not really a dancer so it was nice to do something new! After we went to the Taylorsville library to check the place out and get some books. And I didn't take any pictures because I'm a bad blogger blah blah blah...

Thursday night Scott met up with me after I got off work and we got pedicures at the nail place next to the new Jamba. Scott actually enjoyed it a lot. He asked me so many times why more guys don't get pedicures. I think he's right. They're amazing!

Friday Scott had work off and he got to come to work with me! He was such a good helper. It was nice to have him there! He gets along really well with the staff and we laughed a lot. I had to go to a work meeting that night so we didn't get to do anything fun, but it was nice to spend the day together. Again, with the bad blogger thing...

I loved date week so much. It seems like we're always so busy trying to fit everything in and we don't have nearly the time we would like to spend together. This week has been so much harder because we went back to our regular schedule.

Well, kind of.

Sunday night (as in five days ago) we were sitting around the fire at my parents house talking about places we could go for a summer vacation/honeymoon. My sister-in-law suggested that we go on a cruise. I kind of laughed because cruises are expensive and we probably couldn't pull it off this summer anyway. But, she found a super great deal for a cruise leaving THIS SUNDAY. We came home and realistically talked about it and decided that if Scott could get work off we could go. He texted me a 8 am and said he got the time off and that we should book it. I panicked and went to my parents house again and asked for help booking everything. It all happened so fast! But! We're going to Alaska. THIS SUNDAY. I can't wait to finally have a real honeymoon vacation since we couldn't miss school in February. It's going to be great. Yay for summer and yay for spontaneous vacations. I'm so so so excited. 

So this week has been filled with packing and planning and shopping and all sorts of things. It's been crazy and our apartment is a mess but I can't wait to get away and be with my cute husband. We deserve it. And we are SO ready for a vacation!

So This One Time...

Remember Fall 2013 where I like...
fell off the planet?

I FORGOT TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED!!!!

Okay. So.
Marching band did one good thing for my life. (Okay really like MB isn't that awful. I just like to pretend it was.) WE WENT TO CALIFORNIA! It was great! So fun! Yay!!!

The band fund usually gives us a couple free game trips a year. This time we went to USC in October and it was the worst football game ever. But, that's not the point. The point is Scott and I got a free trip to California!

Since we aren't THAT important we had to drive. I think there were six giant buses total. Since Scott's a drumline person we rode bus 4, the drumline bus. It actually wasn't as bad as it sounds. Everyone was either drunk or tired enough to just be quiet and fall asleep. We left about 1am on Friday morning and drove all the way to Southern California. I slept most of the way there (unlike band tour 2010. Sheesh that was terrible.) and it went by super fast! We got to our hotel and threw our crap in our rooms and then went to Six Flags. SIX FLAGS. And since the band gives you tons of money to use for food and stuff, admission was pretty much free cause we got a group discount! I hung out with some peeps while I waited for Scott to get there (cause his dumb instructor made them go on this stupid factory tour thing).

HOLY GIANT ROLLER COASTERS. The lines were pretty long and that was sucky but whatever. It was Six Flags and it was free and I didn't care. We rode some stuff and then I finally met up with Scott. We went on warm up ride and it was great! So fast and so fun! I was shocked that such a cool ride only had a 15 minute wait! We just screamed and enjoyed our time together. We rode this one that straps you in, lifts you up and turns you so you are staring straight at the ground, and then takes off super fast. You feel like you are flying the whole time! There are so many different kinds of roller coasters and rides! You know that when there are three different things strapping you in, it's gonna be a good one! It was so much fun and I loved every second of it.

We had dinner together and it was the most delicious thing I'd ever eaten. Probably because I was starving to death.. But man, it was great. We just sat and talked and laughed and reviewed our day. We discussed our favorite rides and the ones we wanted to squish in before we left. We got assaulted by some creepy people and got super annoyed of the "spooky" areas. But, it was still great.

Eventually we had to leave but I wasn't too upset because I was way tired and so ready to shower. We got back to the hotel and I hung out with Eva, Elise, Ash in our room and then Michael and Scott came over and we played some games. And then we had to sleep so I walked Scott out and we made out in the stairwell for thirty minutes. It was great. There's something so thrilling about knowing you're being "bad". hahahaha.

We woke up and had to get ready for game day. Scott and I had a fancy breakfast at the hotel together and enjoyed some more time alone. It was nice to kinda feel like we were on vacation for a while.

We packed up all the buses, drove to the stadium, got dressed, did a mini version of Ute Walk, had lunch, and got set up for the game. We were tucked away in a little corner and it was super dumb. We were all so tired and our drum major scolded us for not being excited. But it was like a total beatdown. Whatever. Plus it was like ultra hot outside and we all wanted to die because we were in full uniform.

Again I slept most of the way home and when we got there it was freezing. My mom picked us up (bless her soul. It was like 6 am Sunday morning). She tried to make small talk but we were both so tired I didn't care to talk about anything. I hated having to leave Scott after having so much fun together for a whole weekend. It made me want to be married that much more. I knew we probably wouldn't get to do something like that again for a while and I was grateful for the experience. It was a lot of fun :)

Mexico 2012

So this one time my parents took Kaylee and I to Mexico for Christmas. My grandparents went with us and that was awesome!

We started out the trip with a snowy ride to the airport. Eventually we made it on the plane and while they de-iced we chatted and took pictures. Eventually we took off and got our snacks. They had cute polar bear napkins that Kaylee and I adored. Thankfully it was a short ride. I hate airplanes.

Long Beach was... interesting. Kinda ghettoish. We stayed at the fancy Hilton where the workers dress nice and open the doors for you. They have a fountain or two in the lobby and a grand piano. It was all decorated for Christmas and there was a huge tree. And no free wifi. So basically it was lame.
We took a stroll down the street to find some food. We ended up eating at a brewery that was totally delish. We took the bus to the Queen Mary and explored the flea market thing by the pier. Eventually we got to the actual Queen Mary and took pictures by the telephone booths. Then we went to Wal-Mart and Subway. Ultra ghetto. We went to bed, woke up, repacked, and headed off for the ship terminal. Security and check in was boring as ever. Finally we got on the pretty pink ship. :)

Dinner is my absolute favorite part of going on a cruise. I always spend way too much time getting ready and usually wear nicer stuff than necessary. But whatever cause I love getting cute to eat a meal. Plus Kaylee and I always take mirror pics before dinner. It's another one of our traditions. They had really yummy food and had a dance party every night. Our waitress would have Kaylee and I get up and do fun little dances with her. Everyone stared at us but whatevs. It was great.

The last night is always the saddest.

But we tried to act happy anyway.

My milk addiction was as bad as ever on this trip.

Every night I got a cup of milk with dessert.

Eventually they just started bringing it to me without me asking.

I loved our waitress and her helpers.

The shows every night with the singers and dancers were cute but the movie under the stars was the bessssssst. Out on the lido deck they have a huge screen by the pool. All day they show movies and such but it's most fun to go at nighttime. You can just chill in the pool or lay out on the deck chairs with blankets and watch movies under the stars. They night they showed Elf we went up early and saved some prime time seats. It got kinda cold so they shut the roof but it was still cool to look up and see starts. And those blankets were top notch.

Such a great movie. Seriously.

Since my parents totally rock we did some awesome shore excursions. We went whale watching one day and then had lunch at Cabo Wabo. Best fajitas of all time. The boat we went out on was little and fast. Kaylee and I held on for dear life as we sped out to a bunch of boats watching a pod of whales. We got so close to them! We didn't just SEE them breathing but we heard it too. There were six of them and we followed them around for a couple of hours. They come up to the surface about every 15 minutes and spend 4 or so minutes there. Seeing them come up out of the water and then dive back down is so cool. They were massive humpbacks and it was incredible to watch them just swimming around. And being about 40 yards from them makes it all that more awesome.

I have no pictures of the whales so I get an F-. But my parents took a lot so maybe one day you will see them. :)

The next day we went on a semi-sub with my grandparents. We shopped a bit before we left and I was so thankful for that poncho thing I bought. It was freaking cold down in the bottom of the boat! We saw so many different kinds of fish. They attract them with tortillas hahahaha. I saw a sting ray and a million starfish. It's sometimes hard to believe that there are so many fish living in the ocean. Cabo is beautiful and it was fun to see different parts of it!

In Puerto Vallarta we did a dolphin encounter and HOLY HANNAH it was incredible. We all got to take turns petting and doing tricks with the dolphin. Then you got to take a ride around the pool. I honestly don't remember a time in my life that I have had more fun than I was having in that moment. I seriously couldn't believe what was happening. Swimming with a dolphin is no longer part of my bucket list. :) It was the best Christmas present I think I've ever had. Or ever will have.

We got to make it sing and dance, feed it fish, pet it, hug it, and ride it.

One time I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep. So I got my camera and my iPod and went out to take pictures of the ship when no people were around. The place was pretty dead. And I still didn't take that many pictures. :P

It was a reallllllly awesome trip and I'm so thankful that my parents took me on it. I always love to see new places and meet new people. I love exploring different cultures and experiencing once in a lifetime things. I can't even begin to tell you how many incredible things I've seen and done on vacations that my parents have taken me on, but I am still so thankful for them. :)
