Date Week

Because Jamba was moving all last week, I worked 8-5 and had every night off. For the first time ever. For a whole week. It was a rare occasion and Scott and I wanted to make the most of it!

Monday we just stayed home and enjoyed a delicious meal of stuffed peppers and watched way too many episodes of Secret Life. This is when we decided we weren't going to spend the rest of the week sitting on the couch.

The bae enjoying his cookies and milk

Tuesday we went to dinner at Zupas and I got Scott to give pesto a second chance. (He loved it) Then we drove down Redwood until we stumbled upon Nicklecade. I had never been before and it was super fun! Then we got sundaes at Arctic Circle.

Getting him to make a normal face is harder than you think

#selfie

This is what roughly 200 tickets will get you at Nickelcade
We clearly got our $10 worth

Wednesday we went "ballroom dancing". Scott is a Young Men's leader and attends mutual every Wednesday night. They were having a combined activity with a man from BYU's BDC and Scott invited me to come. The guy taught us a few different dances and I did pretty okay. I'm not really a dancer so it was nice to do something new! After we went to the Taylorsville library to check the place out and get some books. And I didn't take any pictures because I'm a bad blogger blah blah blah...

Thursday night Scott met up with me after I got off work and we got pedicures at the nail place next to the new Jamba. Scott actually enjoyed it a lot. He asked me so many times why more guys don't get pedicures. I think he's right. They're amazing!

Excuse my "I just moved for 8 hours" look

Friday Scott had work off and he got to come to work with me! He was such a good helper. It was nice to have him there! He gets along really well with the staff and we laughed a lot. I had to go to a work meeting that night so we didn't get to do anything fun, but it was nice to spend the day together. Again, with the bad blogger thing...

I loved date week so much. It seems like we're always so busy trying to fit everything in and we don't have nearly the time we would like to spend together. This week has been so much harder because we went back to our regular schedule.

Well, kind of.

Sunday night (as in five days ago) we were sitting around the fire at my parents house talking about places we could go for a summer vacation/honeymoon. My sister-in-law suggested that we go on a cruise. I kind of laughed because cruises are expensive and we probably couldn't pull it off this summer anyway. But, she found a super great deal for a cruise leaving THIS SUNDAY. We came home and realistically talked about it and decided that if Scott could get work off we could go. He texted me a 8 am and said he got the time off and that we should book it. I panicked and went to my parents house again and asked for help booking everything. It all happened so fast! But! We're going to Alaska. THIS SUNDAY. I can't wait to finally have a real honeymoon vacation since we couldn't miss school in February. It's going to be great. Yay for summer and yay for spontaneous vacations. I'm so so so excited.

So this week has been filled with packing and planning and shopping and all sorts of things. It's been crazy and our apartment is a mess but I can't wait to get away and be with my cute husband. We deserve it. And we are SO ready for a vacation!

Ode to Jamba

Jamba Juice Jordan Landing

My second home
my sweetest friend
I can't believe
this is the end

All those times
you saved my life
You even saw me
become a wife

You watched me grow
You watched me cry
You even watched me
date a really terrible guy

You gave me money
And lots of it
I kinda wish
I hadn't spent most of it on... crap

You've seen the spills,
the cuts, and slips
You know our deepest,
darkest secrets

You've made me friends
both young and old
You've showed me how
to be more bold

You ruined two pairs
of my favorite shoes
You taught me how
to deal with youth

I know it's hard
to say goodbye
But I'll see you soon
right next to Best Buy

We're moving on Monday
and it's kind of sad
But a brand new store
will make everyone glad

I love you, Jamba
with all my heart
I'll never forget
what it was like to start

Working for you
has been so fun
I cannot wait until
this new chapter has begun

Why Working at Jamba is Sometimes Really Annoying

Public Service Announcements:

This is what work is like sometimes.
I just kinda give up and sit on boxes that crumble beneath me.
Just like my patience.
Basically we can entitle this photo
"Over Worked and Under Appreciated"

!!!!!DISCLAIMER!!!!!
Honestly, my job is a lot of fun.
I really enjoy it and I work with some stellar people.
But after two years of building up these pet peeves, I had to let them out somehow.

-You really don't need to grab your own straw. Really. I promise you that I will put one in your cup before I give it to you. And I PROMISE there's a really good chance you just grabbed the wrong one anyway. And I PROMISE WITH ALL OF MY HEART that every single one of us working is secretly laughing at you for banging your straw on the counter to try and open it. Only fools open straws like that. We know what we're doing. Please just stop.

-If I am doing dishes (or anything, for that matter) (but ESPECIALLY when I'm doing dishes) don't come up behind me and take over and start washing dishes like a tortoise. I GUARANTEE I can wash dishes faster and more efficiently than you can and I would REALLY appreciate it if you'd go find some other task to fulfill while I take care of the sink. Many hands don't necessarily make light work, but many productive hands make your manager happy. And by happy I mean not angry.

-In case you weren't aware, we have hired you as an employee and expect that you treat your job like a job. This isn't playtime. You don't come to work to hang out with your friends and be super obnoxious and unproductive. I understand that you're a teenager. But you are a teenager that has elected to apply for a job, accept said job, and have agreed to be a valuable employee of said job. Now do it.

-Peanut Butter Moo'ds have got to be the most annoying, time consuming smoothie to make. I can't even begin to describe to you how long they take to produce. I would rather die than make a PBM. I'm not even kidding. I hate everything about them.

-Can we please stop with the sampling when we are busy? Like. Stop it. I bet you $500 that whatever is in that blender is gonna get made again tonight and maybe you can have some later. But when we have a line and six orders to get out, your tiny half an ounce sample is NOT THAT IMPORTANT. Stop stopping what you are doing to go pour your half an ounce into a tiny sacrament cup and go put it in the back before getting back to what you're doing. The ONLY reason I don't scream at you right then and there is because there are customers in the store. You can guarantee it.

-AM I LITERALLY THE ONLY PERSON THAT KNOWS HOW TO DO LAUNDRY? And why does the entire store fall apart if Leah, Shambray, and I have more than one day off?

-Speaking of closing, if you are going to come in at 9:55 with your entire family, AT LEAST KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. You standing there for ten minutes just attracts more people. And that's when I start throwing blenders into the sink.

-Can we PLEASE stop with the Isis free smoothies thing? Please? I mean it was fine when it was one, but now cell phone companies are saying you can come in and get six. SIX. What the hell does a normal person need SIX smoothies for EVER SINGLE DAY?! I wouldn't be so mad about it if they weren't free. Like we don't even get paid to make them. Like. You make us so busy and it doesn't even show up on our hourly sales. And I then want to throw things.

-And finally, what is up with people who can't simply clean up after themselves? Like. Flush the toilet. Throw your empty cup away. Jamba Juice is not your mother. Stop acting like a teenage boy and be respectful of public places.

I bet you can tell that I'm a really patient and understanding manager, huh?
Whatever. It needed to be said.

Oh also,
I'm getting married in 17 days.

Oh Haaiii.

HEY GUESS WHAT?

(What, Kara?)

I SURVIVED MY FRESHMAN YEAR OF COLLEGE!

(Wow, that's great! So did everyone else! You aren't really that cool.)

SHUT UP. IT WAS HARD AND STRESSFUL AND I DIDN'T THINK I WAS GONNA COME OUT ALIVE BUT I DID AND I LEARNED SO MUCH AND I'M SO HAPPY!

(Awesome. Now tell us what you've been up to for the last two months! Because we are soooo interested!)

OKAY.

So the news is out. It's true. I never ever EVER have to be a freshman ever again! :) hahaha Also, this semester was craaaazy. I mean crazy. I decided to take 14 credit hours and an institute class.

My history class was HORRIBLE and I went very faithfully for about a month. Then I started going late... and then it was a miracle if I even went at all. The tests were brutal and the lectures were boring. But Mallory and I seemed to get through it somehow and we became pretty good friends in the process! It was nice to have time to talk about life while we trekked across the frozen tundra, down the many stairs in the engineering building, and then back up the stairs in the engineering building. Also while riding the red shuttle to the institute. She's an UH-MAZING girl and I'm so thankful to have gotten to know her better :)

Remember this beast?
Yeah.
I think it was grass maybe five times?
Otherwise it was ice, snow, or mud.
Or all three.
So great.
:P

Communications was... interesting. Totally not what I thought it would be. My group project changed my life and so did my professor. I always dreaded going to class but once I got there it was so great! I had to give three speeches over the semester and I thanked my lucky stars that I had given so many talks in church and had to present to big groups a lot in high school because I ROCKED dem speeches ;) I was so intrigued by the course that I have decided to major in communications. Who knew? :)

Psychology was hard but super interesting! Tyler and I became even better friends and I met Manny! The three of us were the slackers that always sat in the back and giggled while eating bagels and then tweeting about it. But I learned so much! And I got an A. So wassup.

We Kewl.

"I have to make this bagel regular because of YOU!"
"It's probably the only healthy part and I'm like noooo!"
Best quote of all time.

LEAP was a lot better this time around! It was nice to still be in the same class at the same time with the same people for another semester. We learned about diversity and such and read a couple memoirs. Dr. Harper is by far my favorite professor I've had so far. She really is an incredible lady and I'm so thankful for the things she taught me. I'm definitely gonna miss her! LEAP is a great program. And I suggest it to ALL FRESHMEN!!! Seriously!

School was hard. But I did it. And if I didn't get another 4.0 I was DANG close!! But mostly I'm just stoked for fall semester! I'm staring my major and I couldn't be happier! I'm probably going to change it (again) (or at least that's what the statistics say...) but it's nice to have finally made a decision and to be working towards something. I just want that degree so bad!!! I don't even know how many more credits I have until I get there, but I'm working hard and that's all that matters! :)

IN OTHER NEWS-

I'm awesome at my job.
And I love it.
Here are a few pictures that prove the above statements.

Zachary Buhler has forever stolen my heart.
I la la la love him and the funny things he writes on sticky notes :)
He has moved on to bigger things and I miss him every day!
But I'm so thankful for all the hugs he gave me when life was crappy.

One time Laura did the dishes while sitting in the chair from the office.
:)

Somewhere someone decided that free kid smoothie day would be a good idea.
THEY WERE WRONG.
It was completely insane even with five of us working.
And Megan spilled a whole flat of smoothies.
It's fine.
:P

Look at her.... smiling like nothing is wrong...
hahahah

When the  boys came home for spring break we had a family reunion!
And yes, we called it that.
We went to Jamba for a photo shoot and then went to the Copperton Park and got kicked out by the neighborhood watch ):
So instead we drove around and jammed :)
When Calvin and Ashley left Elise, Jason, and I went to McDonalds and chatted for a while.
After that Jason and I had a nice little heart to heart in my driveway.
It was the most perfect night ever.
I love my friends.

Jumping into Calvin's arms ;)

On April 16th I had my one year Jambaversary!
Yes, it's a thing.
And yes, I invented it.
I got to work with Austin and Miranda and it was splendid!
And you bet your bottom dollar I wore the birthday name tag hahahaha
So many people told me happy birthday!
I felt bad, but we got a lot of tips so whatevs.
:)

Also, Miranda gave me a card and forever alone donuts.
What a sweetie <3

AAAAAND then she got her finger stuck in the wheatgrass machine.
I'm not going to tell you how hard I laughed...

I did a Go Go at a clogging competition and got so bored I stuck my hand to the side of the dip box.
Yep.

Em wrote this and put it on our "board of awesomeness.
I was so happy!

IN OTHER OTHER NEWS-

My brother and his wife moved to Pennsylvania.
I miss them hardcore. ):

Elise and I broke up.
Yep.
I'm devastated.
It's been HARD.
We're currently working through everything but it still sucks.
It sure put a damper on my life over the past month.
And no, I don't want to talk about it.

I got in my first car accident ):
I was driving home from Provo (right after mine and Elise's fight....) and rear ended a guy right by SLCC.
Yep. FIVE MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE. AFTER DRIVING 85 ON THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT WHILE TALKING ON THE PHONE.
I freaked the crap out even though it wasn't really a bid deal....
The guy called the cops and the cop pretty much laughed when he saw the damage.
Basically the other guy overreacted.
But I was still scared.
Since it was late we decided to just deal with it in the morning.
We exchanged info and I called Jason again.
I was in desperate need of a hug and someone to talk to.
We played basketball and talked until one in the morning.
Then I came home and crashed.
I woke up at six, wrote a paper, and went to school.
On my way there the guy called me and left a voicemail.
The Ballpark stop was next so I just decided to get off the train and go tell my mom what happened.
She was really nice about it and helped me call him back and then call Geico.
I was late for school and SUUUPER tired but at least I was being a grown up and taking care of everything.
Matt gave me a really disappointed look after I fell asleep during his lecture...
Emily noticed how torn up I was and had total sympathy for me when I told her what was going on.
She dealt with my horrible mood quite well and she deserves a medal for doing so.
Everything ended up being fine because I haven't heard from him or my insurance company since.
It was definitely a good learning experience!

Scotty is coming home in 24 days and I can't even believe it. It seems like just yesterday Kolby and I were sitting in my driveway, bawling the week before his farewell. So much has changed since then and I'm nervous for him to be back here again. But I'm sure it will be just fine. We're either going to be friends again or we aren't. Pretty simple.

Other than that, I'm basically out of news. So if you made it to the end of this, congrats! You also deserve a medal. Or a smoothie! So head on over to Jamba and tell them that I sent you :)

And as always, DFTBA! :)

What The March?

So, it's March.
March.
As in, the third month of the year.
MARCH
Where the heck did February go!?

Despite the shock I'm in right now, I'm quite pleased that winter is almost over and walking around the U isn't going to be like death anymore! :)
Hopefully.
You never know with Utah.
It's probably gonna snow tomorrow just because I said that.
Anyway, here are a few things that have been going on!

Elise and I served as subs in nursery today.
hahahahahahahahahahaha
I'm pretty sure I laughed for almost half of it.
The other half I was soaking up the spirit that those kids give off.
It's incredible.
And the Church is true.

Jamba is getting busier!
Shifts are a lot more fun when there are more people working and we are making a lot of money.
Hiring for summer will be starting soon.
I'm nervous to train the new kids...
But, my trainers were champs and they helped me become the fab employee that I am today ;)
So hopefully I can be as awesome as they were.
I just can't believe that I've been working there for almost a year.
The time flew by.
I've accomplished so much since then.
Also, I'm nervous for some of the old staff to come back...
I already know how hard it is to be in charge of your friends.
I don't know if I'm up for that task again...
We'll see.

School is absolutely terrifying.
I'm not even worried about grades anymore, just passing.
I've never ever felt like that before.
My classes are just so hard for me and I know they are only going to get worse.
Every day I wake up hoping that things will get better...
they don't.
But I know how important education is and I am determined to fight through this!

I have been practicing so much self-control!
I haven't been shopping since the semiannual sale at VS.
Which is totally incredible.
I guess having to give my parents every paycheck I earn has made me not want to spend any money.
Although, I did break down yesterday and buy some nail polish.
But that's it!

Speaking of giving my parents all my money,
I finally paid off my trip!
This summer my family and I are going on a cruise to Canada/New England.
It ends in Boston.
Which means....
RED SOX vs YANKEES AT FENWAY PARK.
FENWAY PARK.
I'm. Going. To. Fenway.
I want to cry every single time I think about it.
I'm so excited going to explode from all the blissful feelings I have.
I've been wanting to do this since I was a tiny little 6th grader.
I can't even hold it in anymore.
I want to go scream it to the whole world and then dance around for hours.
But for now, happy webcam pictures will have to do.
 :)

Happy midterms! May the odds be ever in your favor!

You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream

For Ice Cream!
The wintertime at Jamba is sloooooowwwwww.
The other night Austin and I were working together and I decided it was time for a little sundae bar.
For some reason, our delivery people gave us this tub of ice cream a while back and they just let us keep it. So at our work Christmas party, we ate a tiny bit of it. Emily told us she'd take it back to Jamba and leave it in the freezer for us to eat when we got bored at work. She also left us hot fudge, caramel, and Cool Whip. And styrofoam bowls.
So, I got out all the stuff and we ate our fill of ice cream for the next month or two. It was spectacular.

Christmas

My parents took Kaylee and I to Mexico so that was basically our Christmas present. And oh boy what an awesome present it was! So it was really nice to spend actual Christmas focusing on time with my family and remembering why we have Christmas in the first place.
Christmas Eve I woke up and went visiting teaching. All by myself. I'm so brave you don't even know. Then I helped Elise finish her shopping. We had five people she needed to get stuff for and it only took us three hours and a few treks through the snow.
I got called into work early so at 12:00 I took off my cute Christmas outfit and put on my boring work outfit. It took me almost fifteen minutes to get to Jordan Landing and the blizzard was insane. Right about then I was thanking myself for biting the bullet and spending so much money on new tires. Anyway, I went to work and Rachel and I cleaned while Ashley took the deposit to the bank. Over an hour later Ashley came back and we were suuuuuper slow so she left. We basically just sold gift cards and cleaned. Then at four Rachel left and Shambray came in. I got REALLY upset and sad that I had to be at work on Christmas Eve instead of at home with my family. Plus, I was ultra bored and hungry. Shambray and I chatted a little and then we discussed closing earlier than 7:30 like originally planned. We only made nine dollars from 3-4, thirteen dollars from 4-5, and then six dollars from 5-6. So, we called Steve to see if we could go home early. He didn't answer so we asked Emily and she gave us the OK. We closed up the store and then it was back into the snow to go home.
It was so nice to be back with my family! We ate yummy dinner and opened our pajamas. Kaylee and I matched, of course. So we documented the moment. Shane read us a funny story and gave us "crap from my closet" gifts and they were hilarious. I love him. He's the best! Then we watched The Polar Express and went to bed.
We all now how excellent my iPod is at taking pictures... :P
This is one of the only pictures I got of Christmas.
But that's okay- we were really happy :)

The next morning I got up and took a shower and got ready so that I didn't look like such a bum all day. My siblings and grandparents came over and we had breakfast and opened more presents. My mom and dad gave me new sheets and soccer sweats <3 I was SO EXCITED. Seriously. That's exactly what I wanted! Kyle gave me some cute new scarves and my grandma gave me some barrettes and a charm bracelet. Plus the stuff she got for me in Mexico. :) We ate again and just hung out. Then Elise came over and we gave each other our presents. She gave me a Minnie Mouse from Disney World and a Blink-182 shirt. I also loved those :)
We went to her house to see her family and Ashley came over. We went to Jamba so that we could get another part of Elise's present- a box of soy milk concentrate. Hahaha she was stoked! Then Elise and I got in her car and drove around the whole state just like always. We discussed work and my fears for becoming a manager. We talked about our friends and how great they are. Suddenly we realized that it had been two hours and we didn't even remember where we had driven. We cranked up the music and jammed out to Avril Lavigne. I always love our car trips together :)
It was a really great Christmas and I was happy I got to spend it with the people I love most.

*Does Cartwheels*

Look at dem grades doe.
I'm so happy.
So, so, so, so, very happy.
I did it.
And I did gooooood.
And even though it was hard,
I survived.
Bring on next semester :)

Also,

Notice anything different about my clock in receipt?
Probably not...
So I'll give you a hint.
It says MANAGER.
(and of course I kept it and hung it on my bulletin board. duh.)
I'm now officially a Team Lead.
Well, when I finish my book work I will be.
But still, I get to manage my own shifts now!
And when I assign a cash drawer to my name, I'm a manager.
I can void stuff and edit people's clock in/out times and such.
I can do the safe count under my name.
I can check hourly and labor and whatnot.
When I clock in the screen says, "SMILE! Have a great shift! :)"
I'm finally allowed to have that key Emily gave me in July.
And know the security code that I've also had since then.
I'm basically the boss. ;)
Hahahaha
But really though.
Getting promoted after working at Jamba for only 8 months is incredible.
I don't think it's happened before and I have a lot of pressure to do a good job.
But, Emily says she knows I can do it and I'm really excited.
Yay for my life!
:)

Dinosaur Seals

Kaylee usually makes me a pb&j sandwich before I go to work so that I don't die of starvation.
They are delish.
The other day she convinced my mom to buy a sandwich cutter that turns the sandwich into two dinosaurs. (But sometimes they look like seals. It's whatever.)
Needless to say, my sandwiches are even more delish these days.

It's the little stuff in life that makes me so happy.

"So This One Time..." Sunday

I love memories, stories, and pictures. And I've got TONS of them. Problem is, most people don't really want to hear them. So yay for blogging! :D
I have decided that every Sunday (or whatever. You know how good I am at remembering to blog...) I will write about a memory I have of something awesome!
I have also decided that the first one shall be about The Lid Box War of '12. It was quite the event and it always makes me laugh so hard when I think about it. So here goes...

I was scheduled to work one night with Elise, Taylor, and Jason and I was quite excited because Elise and Jason are my favorite people ever! But when I got to work everything was weird. But I kept working like normal and then things got super slow so we decided to sit in the office where this event took place-

Elise was GLARING at Jason. (And I thought it was kind of funny so I documented the moment.) For some reason unknown to me, they were in a fight and both of them were angry. I had no idea what was going on until we were out in the kitchen later...
We have this wonderful thing at pour station called the lid box. When you are getting ready to pour a smoothie, you are supposed to take the tag off the lid, throw it away, place the lid in the lid box, and then continue to pour the smoothie into a cup and hand it out. Seems legit, right? Wrong. Sure it's fast and easy but if you get rushed and then run out of clean lids, you have to stop and dump them in the sink and wait for one minute for them to sanitize and it's inconvenient and kind of sucks. So anyway Jason feels that the lid box is an unnecessary and evil thing for those reasons. His philosophy is basically throw the lid at the sink before you pour so that someone can wash it and then you've always got clean lids ready to use! (which I also kind of hate because I have been hit by so many freakin' lids! Also, if it doesn't hit me it scares the crap out of me when I'm on dishes. So I just put them on the counter and carry them to the sink with the dirty blenders. Stupid lids...)
I was on pour and threw a lid in the lid box just like I always had and looked up to see the most terrible look I've ever been given. Jason was standing there and was like, "DON'T USE THE LID BOX!" and Elise was like, "USE IT!" and then they glared at each other and didn't speak for a while. I kind of just rolled my eyes at them because this fight was completely ridiculous and was disturbing our happy work environment. Taylor and I laughed and we all went in the back and discussed the problem. Elise admitted that he was right about the inconvenience of stock piling dirty lids. But she didn't want to say sorry so she continued to be mad. Jason tried to have group hug with us in hopes for forgiveness but Elise just would not have it. Thankfully Taylor took pictures of the event with my iPod :)

Our faces KILL me
hahahahahaha

Us being mad at Jason...

I still don't know what was happening right here but it makes for an awesome picture
:)

And eventually I gave in but Elise stayed true to her anger and refused to participate in group hug.
And the first thing she did when we got back in the kitchen was throw a lid in the lid box.

So, naturally, Jason freaked out and threw everything he could find in the lid box.

And he did it with the straightest face and without saying a single word. By then Elise and I were rolling on the floor laughing. He had clearly won the war. And I have never put a lid in there since.
Long story short, I love my friends. And even though we do ridiculous stuff at work that we should probably get fired for, we have a lot of fun. Our staff is like no other staff. We are a family. Best friends forever. We care about each other and spend a lot of time together, especially outside of work. I couldn't ever ask for cooler people to work with!
And now it is time to say goodbye to six of them. Calvin, Kathy, Elise, Eric, Karley, and Jason (who technically already quit but still). They are my FAVORITE. I love every single one of them so much. They are all so fun to work with and make me smile on the daily. We've all had a lot of fun times together and I look forward to them coming back to work/visit on the weekends and summers. And every single time I pour a smoothie and set the lid on the counter instead of the box, I think of this day and the wrath of Jason. I look back at it and laugh. I'll miss him. I'll miss everyone! They've all been so good to me!

Well, that's that. My first really lame story that means a lot to me. I'm looking forward to every "So This One Time..." Sunday in the future :)

They Call Me A Workin' Man

So yesterday was my first day at Jamba! I still can't believe how old I am. Seems like just yesterday I was starting 7th grade without a clue in the world. Hahaha anyway I got there at like 3:38 and sat in my car for about ten minutes. I didn't want to be late so I left wicked early :P
Thankfully Elise and our friend Ashley were both working so they pulled me in to the back to meet everyone and Emily (the boss) gave me a bunch of stuff to fill out. She was so nice and very patient with me. But neither of us wanted to do my tax stuff wrong. Haha :)
Then she gave me my uniform and took me on a tour of the store. It's so cute and it smells delicious! She talked me a lot...most of which I don't remember...so thankfully she said, "You'll get it all soon don't worry." so I just smiled. What I do best! ;)
Then she gave me the bible aka training manuel and told me to read the raspberry section. It was very informative and it took me forever to read but eventually Kathy quizzed me and I got them all right! Ten points to Griffendor! (Excuse the Harry Potter reference)
Emily and Ashley left so there was only me, Elise, Kathy, and Austin in the store. Elise came over and told me she'd teach me how to wash dishes! So we went over to the giant sink and I washed some stuff :) We cleaned out the orange juicer thing and I learned where a lot of stuff is.
Elise asked me if I wanted to make a smoothie and I was like heck yeah! She's been helping me memorize the classic recipes so I have a few under my belt :) I made a strawberries wild and it was delish if I do say so myself :) she showed me how to pour and then I put my smoothie in the fridge :)
For the rest of the night I continued to make every strawberries wild that came through and even a few others :) I'm not sure how many people make smoothies on their first day... But the numbers have got to be few. Haha so needless to say I felt awesome.
I love how everyone there works as a team. They are all so nice and willing to help you with anything. They work in an assembly line of some sort and communicate quite well. I sure did pick a great place to work :)
I was supposed to get off at 8 but stayed a little longer because it was SO MUCH FUN. I mean come on who doesn't love having a singing and dancing party every five minutes? Exactly.
Anyway it was just super awesome and I hope I can get through training fast and actually start being helpful. I'm still really slow but it will come :) I can't wait until I'm as good as Elise. She's a spectacular teacher :)
Until next time!

Home Sweet Home

So I've been on vacation for the past week or so. (That's how I'm going to justify my serious lack of blog posts... :) ) My family and I went on a cruise to celebrate my parent's 30th anniversary and my sister and brother-in-law's 8th. It was super rad! I can't wait until I get the energy to blog about it! haha tomorrow maybe... when I'm not at school or doing homework or STARTING MY FIRST DAY OF WORK! Yep. That's right. I start at Jamba tomorrow and I'm flipping NERVOUS! Luckily one of my best friends also works there and she's been talking with me about it and helping me realize that everything is going to be just fine. :) Aside from the nerves I'm pretty excited! I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally be brave enough to get a job but I did it and I'm super proud! hahaha :) Elise has been giving me a head start on memorizing recipes and whatnot. She's the best I tell you! We had a nice long chat today while we were delivering things to some girls in the ward. We talked about how we've been friends for so long and how we have managed to get over dumb things and realize that friendship is worth more than a little fight.
We have been neighbors since we were 8 years old. The first time I ever saw her I knew she'd be my best friend. She walked into primary wearing a pretty white dress and the presidency introduced her and we sang the hello song. I couldn't stop staring at her. I just felt like wow... I want to get to know that girl! I felt like such a creep but I couldn't ignore the feeling I had. I knew she would be an important part of my life.
The first time we ever played together we had a blast. We made up these ridiculous stories about how her room was haunted and we would hide in the closet and then come back out to see if anything in her room had moved. Of course they never did, unless one of us secretly moved them before going back into the closet. It was the DUMBEST game on the planet but it was so great. We laughed and talked and hung out every single day for the rest of forever. She's always been the person that I could talk to about anything. We'd have sleepovers and talk in funny voices and eat bricks of raw ramen. She always understood me. We could communicate without even speaking to each other. We walked to school, played barbies, and laughed together every single day. The whole school knew we were besties. I always had someone to sit by at church and her family was so sweet to me. Elise is someone who I can't imagine growing up without. She is one of the few people aside from my family who has ever seen me REALLY cry. We've been through everything together... and I mean everything! hahaha.
Middle school was an interesting time but we stayed friends through the whole thing. We fought a lot more and didn't speak for days at a time but we always had that same connection. She was that person that I couldn't stay mad at very long because I had important things to tell her. :) Sophomore year came and we still hung out every now and then but I was in band and she had Emery. We were still able to get together and chat and be silly like always. That's when I started to realize that she was more than just a convenient friend for me. If I had to TRY to make time to see her, it would prove that she meant something to me and that I wanted to keep our relationship alive. Well I guess it worked. :)
Nowdays we're still best friends. I can't think of anyone who knows me better than she does. We still have that really great friendship we've always had...it's just different now. Our lives consist of real problems and challenges that we talk each other through. Sometimes I wish we could go back to when we were 8 and the only thing that mattered is what our barbies were wearing. Now we're being faced with college and money and relationships and all kinds of weird grown up things. She's still right there with me though. Talking to her today made me realize that even if she's living in Orem and I'm still here, even if we never ever get to see each other, even if I move to Ohio, she'll still be there for me. She'll still text me funny memories or want to get together and hang out. She's one of the few people I think I will be able to stay close to after high school. And even if I'm wrong, I'm very thankful for the friendship we've had. 10 years is a long time to know someone and still be able to get along with them. We're so alike but yet so different. I think we balance each other out quite nicely :) We've grown up together and I know she's been a good influence on me. I'm thankful to have had such a quality friend to confide in my whole life.
Thanks Elise for being a pal and always letting me eat your food and pet your dog. :) I wish you the best in your life ahead and I hope that I'll always be a part of it. :)
